One of my last pregnant tummy pictures. =\
Another tummy picture.
Trying to find the pants that I wanted to wear to the hospital.
I didn't realize how big I'd gotten until I looked back at these pictures.
The calendar on our door. We'd been keeping a countdown of days, starting about 2 weeks before she got here, and ended up going into negative days, since she was late. The extra comments were sritten after we knew I was being induced.
Changing into the oh-so-flattering hospital gown.
Getting comfy.
Hooked up to the fetal monitor.
Printout of her heartbeat (left)and contractions (right).
Her heartbeat, 146, and the strength of the contractions, 26.
Me, on the phone with my mom.
Me, at about 6 am, attempting to make a funny face. I'm holding a lemon ice pop, which was the best thing I got to eat during labor.
Oooh. Contractions are getting stronger. This was at about 6 am.
The bed John got to sleep on.
Me in the shower at about 9 am.
Emma's little bed in the hall outside of our room.
Me, post epidural, in the middle of pushing. This was about 3:30.
John cutting the cord, at about 5, right after she was born.
Aww. Clean baby on the baby scale. 8 lbs, 5 1/4 oz.
Emma and I, the first time I really got to hold her.
The placenta table! Yum!
John and Emma.
First meal!
Me, on the phone with either my mom or my dad. I was very tired.
Emma, once they brought her to our room from the nursery. She's bathed and bundled up.
Me, in the recovery room, after a shower and a nap.
John, being silly. =)
So much hair!
Sleepy baby.
Punk rock mohawk baby!
Mom and dad's first diaper change efforts. Luckily, we have gotten better.
John and Emma, on the bed that he slept on in this room.
Big baby yawn!
Happy mom.
Sleepy baby...
...and more sleepy baby.
A really good picture of John and Emma.
Sleepy mom and baby.
She does a lot of sleeping.
Zzzzzzzzz....
Little baby hand.
Little baby hand holding dad's finger.
Ooh. "I'm waking up, and I'm angry about that!"
Cutest. Baby. Ever.
Oh no, more angry baby!
The amazing blanket eating baby!
Getting dressed to go home from the hospital.
Mom buttoning up the outfit for the second time. I did it wrong the first time.
Trying to put on the socks that were way too big for her feet anyhow.
And, we gave up on the socks.
She swam in this outfit.
And still more sleepy baby...
All dressed!
Super cute!
Raaaar! I don't know what made her mad here, but she was very angry.
And, ready to go! We put the socks back on eventually anyhow.

"I begin to love this creature,
and to anticipate her birth
as a fresh twist to a knot,
which I do not wish to untie."
